Make a wish for this kids to come trough - save the Guardian Angel!
First! Thank you, for your time and I hope that this web site and newspaper ad shows you how you can help
us save the Guardian Angel and its task.
This task is multifaceted, but each so very important to all of us and the, children, animals and the
people she looks over and serves.
Our number one task is to give terminally ill children and their Moms and Dads the opportunity to forget
problems for a few days or a few hours (depending on the strength of the child and the Doctors
recommendations). If you could only see their faces when they meet Bubba the Sea Dog. Bubba is a black
lab rot mix that came from animal shelter as a pup. Bubba is seven now and the star of this show. Bubba
does not bark or jump; he just cuddles up to you and warms the hearts of all. The kids just love him; we
all do. Bub I affectionately call him is a Medical Hospital Dog that meets young and elderly patient at
their bedside. When not sailing on bad weather days when it would not be safe for man or beast, you will
find Bubba at the local hospital or nursing home near that port. Noting which is our second service that
the Guardian Angel and Bubba provides to communities up and down the East and West Coast of Canada, United
States, Mexico and others in route). The sailboat and Bubba have been all the children talk about long,
long after their stay aboard; and more often then not I have been ask if I would sell Bubba.
|
I just say
Bubba's heart would be broken not being on the Sea and, in addition, I say that the other children need
him too. The hearts that never stops loving, the kids and Bubba! He is the ambassador of goodwill.
We would like to show photos of the kids, that have been our guests onboard the Guardian Angel, but due to
the need for privacy of children and their families; that would be unethical.
When we are out to Sea and in port, we are part of the worldwide Amateur Radio Medical Support System. Its
goal is to support medical staff (Doctors, Nurses and other medical personnel) in relaying communication.
In supplying the technical information on how to repair this medical equipment out in the field, plus
finding the parts needed to get them operating again. These medical out post through out the world in
times of natural disasters; need your support and when these outpost having little to no other links other
then Amateur radio the guardian Angel is out there.

The Guardian Angel
Guardian Angel is a Class C Tall Ship. Her sail configuration is a Cutter ketch with a total of length of
56 ft., and at her widest part or beam is 14 ft. From the water line down, she is 7.5 ft (Draft); She is
a one of a kind, no other like her. She is made of mahogany with Oak frames. Her hull is 3.5- 5 inches
thick.
The American Designer and Naval Architect, the world famous E. R. Simmerer finished his work in 1964 and
then the Guardian Angel was built in Japan 1966. As mention before she is one of a kind and a National
treasure, a (True Classic) she a Master Mariners Vessel.
The angel has been around the world three times, helping rescuing many other vessels and crews, and on
occasion took action to help and look over the sea life (whales and porpoises). In addition, we all work
to help stop water pollution and polluting of our Oceans by reporting all weather condition and water
pollution the to US Coast Guard.
Who is the Captain?
Rev. Benson is a Biomedical/Clinical Engineer. An ordained minister for over twenty year and Ham Operator
for almost twice that long. He has worked with children and families as co-leader of two Girl Scout
troops and Chairman of the Girl Scouts of America in Racine Wis. He also worked to save runaway kids and
battered women by getting them temporary shelter and ran the international Christian Youth exchange, as
the coordinator of the Tri County Action project in Racine Wis.
As a volunteer he initiated and taught Amateur Radio classes to blind veterans at the Hines VA Medical
Blind Center, Chicago IL.
Therefore, as you can see he has been a guardian too.
The Captain's Call for Help---SOS---SOS---SOS
We need your help, as you can see the Angel is getting up there in age, she's 35 years young and with her
history of helping others in need now is in need herself.
We are asking your support in many ways. At this time, we are asking Corporations, Churches and the
public, or any other interested group to help us continue the work we have started. With the new Coast
Guard safety requirements, it has put a heavy burden on the Guardian Angel. Noting that we take no monies
for the services that we provide to the Families and the Children, and Medical missionaries Field
Hospitals. All our funding comes from you and out of pocket.
At this point, the Vessel the Guardian Angel needs a new main sails and two new Jib Sails, and running
rigging. A life raft (eight person), navigation Equipment (Radar, Wind Speed and wind direction
indicator), Water Maker, Refrigerator, EPRB. (A rescue radiolocation finder 450Mhz.), weather Fax, and the
Radio Equipment just to stay in touch with you through the Internet when we are out to sea. In addition,
a new engine or a total rebuilt done on it is needed.
If you like, you can donate money, or the Equipment needed. However, we have found that used equipment
after it has been installed has not worked and the cost and time of installation is unbelievable, just to
start all over again.
We have also considered running Corporation logo's and their Internet address on new sails for advertising
Companies or your company. Think about this. Blimps are out now, however, there are ships with sails
billowing all over the waterways and this could be great advertising since she is a beautiful ship and
always noticed.

and general maintenance) this help is most needed and appreciated. Please call to make arrangements.
Please note we can not supply transportation to or from Guardian Angel or board, but a cabin for overnight
stays may be available. Moreover, if I know the Captain you will probably help sail her and learn how to
sail the little angel a ten foot sailing dinghy, depending on the weather.
